Pencil Skirt History

Pencil skirt was designed by the famous French designer Christian Dior in the late 1940s. It was given the name pencil skirt because of its shape of straight up-and-down cut.

This design was appreciated by many Hollywood stars also like Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner and Sophia Loren. The specialty of this design is that it embraces the lady’s curves and gives a great look to ones personality when she walks.

Its fashion become outdated in the years of 50’s and 70’s when bell-bottomed and prom-style skirts gain more popularity but again came in to fashion in 1980s. During these years pencil skirt was introduced with sharp-shouldered business suit and power dressing.

The style of pencil skirts keeps on changing with time. New ideas and variations are added to the basic style with current fashion. Usually the add-ons are made through bows, ruffles, lace and draping. With their latest fashion one can wear it anywhere like for office, party or casual day wears.
Styles of Wearing Pencil Skirt

•    For normal day time wears, make a contrast of pencil skirt with casual shirts like T-shirts or textured knitted top. You can give different contrasts with it to give a new look.

•    One can make a combination of pencil skirt with Breton-striped top along with cute ballet flats as nowadays Parisian chic is in fashion.

•    For evening party style, TV style guru Gok Wan suggests wearing the skirt with puffed-sleeve-peasant-style blouse and the wide belt will add more beauty to the personality. A satin black pencil skirt also looks stunning with the sparkling top.

•    For having a vintage grace Kelly look wear pair of high heels and make an addition of cropped cardigan and strand of pearls.

•    Long skirts are better for those ladies who have short height or have thick legs. Because the short skirts that finishes at the calf make a lady look shorter and also highlight the legs. So long skirts give much more attractive look to the short ladies.

•    Try different textures in skirts like satin, lace or velvet rather than just sticking to black that gives a slimmer look.

•    Heighted and heavy ladies should avoid the skirts with heavy trappings and pockets around the hips. Because the ruffles, bows and bands at waist or hips gives more heavy look than original.

This wedding dress can solve the problem of many ladies who have low budget but want to wear a unique dress for their wedding so this one is for them. This development is getting a boom as many eco-friendly designers are working keeping this aim in their mind. Even now there has been an event organized for these designers to display their unique work known as “After life” where the emphasis will be on recycled paper fashion.

Japan is considered to be the pioneer of this thought who uses even the last bit of the recycled product to show their love for the environment. The increasing popularity of recycled cartridges and inkjet printers in fashion industry is also the extension of the same idea.

Do you know that recycled printer cartridges are being used to manufacture stylish earrings? Japanese fashion market is expert in doing this kind of artistic work. Similarly the power buttons are used for the making of normal buttons to be stitched on neon shirt or leather jackets. This kind of work is becoming very popular in fashion industry with time.

Just last month it was our daughter’s fourteenth birthday and my husband and I had no idea what to get for her. She already had a Television in her room, a nice C.D. player, an i pod and a brand new mobile phone. It gets harder and harder to buy for girls of this age, and this year seemed harder than ever.

Over the last year or so we had started to notice that she was beginning to become interested in boys at her school. Because of her new interests we decided that we could try and find a present that would make her feel good about herself. We thought of dresses, but that is such a personal thing at that age, and we thought of booking her in for an expensive hair cut, but most of the girls at school seemed to be cutting their own hair these days and she probably wouldn’t appreciate it. In the end we settled on some nice perfume. There are lots of cheap perfume stores online and we found a lovely bottle that we thought would be just right. It turned out to be the right choice because she was thrilled!
