Just last month it was our daughter’s fourteenth birthday and my husband and I had no idea what to get for her. She already had a Television in her room, a nice C.D. player, an i pod and a brand new mobile phone. It gets harder and harder to buy for girls of this age, and this year seemed harder than ever.
Over the last year or so we had started to notice that she was beginning to become interested in boys at her school. It’s an age thing of course, and although it was something that neither I nor may husband was looking forward to, we were both ok with the idea of her having a boyfriend. It’s hard to see your daughter growing up but e wanted her to be happy and being an active member of her peer group was an important part of that.
Because of her new interests we decided that we could try and find a present that would make her feel good about herself. We thought of dresses, but that is such a personal thing at that age, and we thought of booking her in for an expensive hair cut, but most of the girls at school seemed to be cutting their own hair these days and she probably wouldn’t appreciate it. In the end we settled on some nice perfume. There are lots of cheap perfume stores online and we found a lovely bottle that we thought would be just right. It turned out to be the right choice because she was thrilled!
